The Haverford Township Civic Council invites interested members of the community to participate in an organizing meeting to identify public spaces in need of beautification. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 17th from 7:30-9:00 PM in the Environmental Room of the Community, Recreation and Education Center (CREC) at Haverford Reserve.
At its annual meeting in April the Civic Council approved an action priority proposal submitted by the Haverford Partnership for Economic Development (HPED) to work together to organize this initiative. The plan is to gather interested individuals and community leaders, identify unattractive public spaces (such as train stations, road islands, institutional grounds) and recruit nearby organizations to adopt spaces for beautification purposes. The idea had originated with Third Ward Commissioner, Jane Hall, who represents the Township to the board of directors of the HPED.
The Civic Council will also confer with officials and other Township Commissioners to identify potential public spaces in their wards.
Leaders of Haverford Green will share their experience with public space adoption with their award-winning Triangle Garden at the fork on Darby Road just below the Township administration building.
People who are interested in this community-wide beautification initiative should contact Don Kelly, HPED Vice President, at 610-449-5825 or via-e-mail email@example.com
