posted Oct 31, 2011 7:32 PM by Scott Reynolds   [ updated Oct 31, 2011 7:32 PM ]
Congratulations to Haverford Township for the $290,000 Darby Creek Trail construction grant awarded Thursday by the Board of the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC) and funded by the William Penn Foundation.  The grant will make possible the creation of the middle third of the planned 3 mile off-road multi-use trail. The middle segment will include a 10-foot wide trail running just over 1 mile along Darby Creek, approximately from Glendale Park (Merry Place on Glendale Avenue) to the township yard and Old West Chester Pike.   The trail will accommodate walkers, joggers and bicyclists, and is also expected to be accessible to wheelchair users.  The grant is one of 14 totaling $5 million awarded in 8 counties of the Delaware Valley region selected from 37 applications totaling $18 million.
