Chris Whiting, President  |
Chris Whiting is President of the Civic Council, and he is no stranger to community leadership. He has been involved with the Beechwood Civic Association for many years, serving on the picnic committee, planting committee, and as President. He also serves on the Heritage Trail Committee, the Heritage Festival Committee, the Haverford Music Festival, the Freedom Playground Committee, and in the Haverford Township Tree Tenders program. Chris’ passion is antique and classic cars, and he has been selling commercial and construction trucks for the past 15 years. He and his wife raised a daughter who now attends Marlboro College. Now that they are empty-nesters, they have moved onto raising seeing eye puppies. |

Jeanne Angell, Vice President
|
Jeanne grew up outside of Buffalo, NY but has lived in the Philadelphia area for the past 25 years -- in Devon, Ardmore, Wynnewood, and now in Llanerch. She has a BA from Earlham College and a MSW from Bryn Mawr College where she spent 12 years working as a college administrator. She has served on the board of directors of the Llanerch Civic Association for the past 16 years, acting as co-president for seven of those years. She was co-chair of the Llanerch Crossing Park Committee, a member of the leadership team for the Task Force for Business Revitalization, and is currently Coordinator of the Tree Tenders program in the Township, Chair of the Shade Tree Commission, a member of the Heritage Festival Planning Committee, and editor of the newsletters for the Civic Council and the Haverford Partnership for Economic Development. She works part-time as Volunteer Coordinator for Riverbend Environmental Education Center. When not at a committee meeting or spending time with her husband Sam and their three boys, Jeanne enjoys gardening, photography, home renovations, and hunting for antiques and collectibles.

Donald Kelly, Past President
|
Don has spent most of his life building community – first as a Peace Corps volunteer, then as a community organizer in Chicago, and now as Director of Community and Economic Development with the Greater Philadelphia Urban Affairs Coalition. He is also an Adjunct Professor with Eastern University in urban planning, economic development, public policy and community revitalization. He has served on the HTCC board for twelve years, and as president for four of those years. He was chair of the Task Force for Business Revitalization and now serves on the Board of the Haverford Partnership for Economic Development. He is also co-founder of Haverford Green, a group which has created and maintained several public gardens in the Township. He enjoys working collaboratively with others to build a better community. Born in New York City, and raised on Long Island, Don and his wife Christine have lived in the Merwood section of Havertown since 1986. They have two grown children and several grandchildren. Don enjoys stained glass work and hopes to pick up this hobby again when he retires. |

Mark Anderson, Treasurer

Mark has lived in Havertown his whole life, and has chosen to raise his two children here. He has an accounting degree from Drexel University and now has his own accounting practice. In addition to being a Tree Tender, Mark serves on the Shade Tree Commission, the Heritage Trail Committee, and the Music Festival Committee. He is also on the Board of the Mount Moriah Cemetery. In his free time, Mark enjoys hiking, visiting historic sites, and adding to his Frank Sinatra collection. |

Erin Stottlemyer Gold, Corresponding Secretary

Erin Gold is new to Havertown, but loves that our community is walkable, close-knit, and full of growing families. Erin graduated from UC-Riverside and the University of Pittsburgh law school, but after several years as a successful lawyer, she is taking a break to be a stay-at-home mom. She and her husband Evan live in the Oakmont section with their three young children. In the past she served as Secretary for the Oakmont-South Ardmore Civic Association, and is currently co-chair of the HTCC Insurance Task Force. She enjoys cooking and getting to know her neighbors. |

Jeff Miller
|
Jeff has served on the Civic Council Board since 2006, and really enjoys the opportunity to improve our Township. During his tenure as President of the Library Board of Directors, he actively pursued building a state-of-the-art new library which would serve as a center of intellectual and cultural enrichment in our community. Jeff grew up in New England but moved to Haverford Township in 1999. He lives in the Paddock Park neighborhood with his wife Rudy and their two sons. When not working as an architect, Jeff keeps himself busy with golf and oil painting. |

Christine Faris, Representative for the Library

The Library Director of the Haverford Township Free Library
since September 2010, Ms. Faris attended St. Joseph’s University for a degree in
Accounting, worked at First Pennsylvania Bank as a Credit Administrator until
1979, owned her own secretarial service for 8 years, and began as a part time
Library Assistant in 1992. For the last 20 years, Ms. Faris has worked in every
department of HTFL, attended graduate school for Library Science, and became
Assistant Director and then Interim Director for 9 months. She has lived in
Havertown for 35 years, has three grown children who love coming home to visit
as much as she enjoys having them! In her spare time she loves cooking, sewing,
needlework, and reading. |

George Lavin, Membership Chair |
George had a 10-year career as an engineer and manager in the aerospace/defense industry in Texas before attending Law School at Villanova University. He has worked as an Attorney for the past 15 years, primarily defending automotive companies against claims their vehicles are defective, and recently opened his own law firm on Eagle Rd. in Havertown. He has been very active in several local community groups, including the Rotary Club, the Task Force for Business Revitalization, the Haverford Partnership for Economic Development, and the Youth Aid Panel. He is also on the Bucknell Engineering Alumni Association Board of Directors. George and his wife Pam live in Oakmont with their teenage son – their two daughters are now in college. For relaxation he enjoys camping, fishing, landscaping and home remodeling. |

Mary Courtney, Recording Secretary  |
Mary Courtney has devoted many years of service to the Haverford Township Historical Society, as a board member and as president of the board for eight years. She also served on the Llanerch Civic Association board, as co-chair of the Llanerch Crossing Park Committee, is a founding member of the Haverford Township Tree Tenders program, and serves on the Music Festival Committee. She has a BA in Art History from George Washington University. She currently works for the Haverford Township School District and with the Colonial Living Program, and in her spare time hosts Bed & Breakfast guests in her Llanerch home, tends her garden, and enjoys hiking, stargazing, and soaking in her backyard hot tub. She and her husband Robert have two grown children. |

Tom Kelly, Representative for the Music Festival |
Tom Kelly
is Chairman of the Haverford
Music Festival. Tom was born in Philadelphia and has lived in Haverford
Township since 1989. As volunteers, Tom and his wife Sheri coached girls'
softball for 10 years in the Township League at Paddock Park while their
daughters, Jaclyn and Kristen played. Tom also coached soccer in Haverford
Township and ran the sponsorship committee for the St Denis Fair for 10 years.
Tom owns and operates iRadioPhilly.com an internet radio
platform serving Philadelphia with nineteen unique radio stations. In 1991
Tom founded Kelly Music Research, a radio consultancy serving the broadcast
radio and music industries. KMR has employed hundreds of young adults from
Haverford Township and surrounding communities over the years. Tom earned his
BS Accounting from Villanova University and has spent his entire career in Radio
and music. He started as a dj and has owned a Philadelphia radio station. For
fun, Tom no longer skydives. He likes to ride his motorcycle, run, golf and of
course, listen to music. LOUD. |
Michael Kay, Representative for Elwell Field

Michael Kay is the Civic Council Liaison for the South Ardmore Betterment
Alliance (SABA), and brought into the fold of the Civic Council to
represent SABA as it seeks to rebuild "The Castle" at the Elwell Field
playground. Since first coming from the West Coast to Haverford College,
Michael has thought South Ardmore and Haverford Township a very nice place to
live, and is happy to be raising his family here. He appreciates the
opportunity to be part of the many wonderful things that volunteers bring to the
Township, and plans for this to be the first step in a long commitment to
community involvement. Michael enjoys spending time with his wife and two
little girls, music, reading, cooking, and the outdoors.

Rick Miller, Representative for St. Andrews Center for the Arts
|
Rick Miller grew up in Havertown, where he was active in Llanerch Boy Scout Troop 434 where his father was Scoutmaster. Rick is still very active with the troop, and is now boy scout regional coordinator. He particularly enjoys cooking for the boy scout camping trips and banquets, and supervising Eagle Scout projects. Recently Rick was presented with the Boy Scout's Silver Beaver Award for distinguished service, which is the highest council recognition. Rick was a member of the Llanerch Crossing Park committee, and currently serves on committees for the Haverford Music Festival, the Haverford Heritage Trail, and he is currently leading a project to develop a community arts center at St. Andrews Church in Llanerch. Professionally, Rick is a machine repair technician and theater set builder. In his free time he enjoys woodworking, hiking, theater, folk music, and playing with his grandson. | Fran Ficco, Representative for Tree Tenders

Fran grew up in Drexel Hill, but he and his wife have lived in Manoa with their 3 teenagers for 17
years. He took the tree tenders course because he loves trees but didn't know much
about them. He feels that being a member of the civic council board is a great opportunity to get involved in a community that he loves. Fran spent 4 years in the Air Force and has been a Letter Carrier
for the past 22 years. He enjoys yard work, cooking, birdwatching, mountain biking, hockey and all kinds of
